Ingredients

  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple slices in juice undrained
  • 1 boneless ham 4- to 5-pound, fully cooked
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed

Equipment

  • 1 6-quart slow cooker

Method

  1. Arrange half of the pineapple slices in the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  2. Set the ham flat side down on top of the pineapple slices.
  3. Arrange the remaining pineapple slices around and over the ham.
  4. Pour the juice over the ham and press the brown sugar onto it.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours or HIGH for 2 to 3 hours, until the center of the ham reaches 140°F on an instant-read thermometer.
  6. Transfer the ham to a cutting board and rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
  7. Serve with the pineapple and spoon some cooking liquid over the slices.

Notes

For the best texture, check the center with an instant-read thermometer and stop cooking when it reaches 140°F. Refrigerate leftovers for 3 to 4 days; freezing is suitable. For a lower-sodium option, choose a lower-sodium fully cooked ham.
