Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries

Air fryer sweet potato fries are coated with cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and olive oil, then cooked until tender and browned at the edges. Cutting them evenly and drying them thoroughly helps each batch cook up crisp around the edges.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb sweet potatoes peeled if desired
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 5- to 6-quart air fryer

Method

  1. Cut the sweet potatoes into evenly sized fries about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Pat the fries thoroughly dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Toss the fries with the cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, and salt until evenly coated.
  4. Toss the fries with the olive oil.
  5. Preheat a 5- to 6-quart air fryer to 380°F for 3 minutes.
  6. Arrange the fries in a single layer in the basket, working in batches so they are not crowded.
  7. Air-fry at 380°F for 12 to 16 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until tender and browned at the edges.

Notes

For crisp fries, pat the cut potatoes thoroughly dry and avoid crowding the basket. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days; freezer: no. For a lower-sodium option, reduce the kosher salt to taste.
