Method
Make the casserole
- Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, 8 to 10 minutes.
- Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate and let it cool.
- Crumble the cooled bacon.
- Stir together the soup, sour cream, and ranch seasoning in a large bowl.
- Fold in the green beans, cheddar, and crumbled bacon.
- Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Bake and top
- Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling around the edges.
- Sprinkle the fried onions evenly over the casserole.
- Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For the best texture, keep the fried onions for the final bake as directed. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce and topping can lose their texture. Plain Greek yogurt can replace the sour cream for a lighter option.
