Ingredients

For the casserole
  • 8 bacon slices
  • 4 can (14.5 oz) green beans cut, drained and rinsed
  • 2 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup condensed
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix
  • 2 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
For the topping
  • 1.5 cup fried onions crispy

Equipment

  • 1 9x13-inch baking dish
  • 1 large skillet

Method

Make the casserole
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp, 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate and let it cool.
  4. Crumble the cooled bacon.
  5. Stir together the soup, sour cream, and ranch seasoning in a large bowl.
  6. Fold in the green beans, cheddar, and crumbled bacon.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Bake and top
  1. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes, until hot and bubbling around the edges.
  2. Sprinkle the fried onions evenly over the casserole.
  3. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, until the onions are golden brown.
  4. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, keep the fried onions for the final bake as directed. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days; freezing is not recommended because the creamy sauce and topping can lose their texture. Plain Greek yogurt can replace the sour cream for a lighter option.
