Ingredients

  • 3 cup water
  • 0.33 cup ground coffee
  • 0.75 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 tsp ground ginger
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 0.13 tsp ground cloves

Equipment

  • 1 coffee maker
  • 1 small saucepan

Method

  1. Brew the water and ground coffee in a coffee maker according to the manufacturer’s directions.
  2. In a small saucepan, whisk together the milk, molasses, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves over medium-low heat for 3 to 5 minutes, until steaming and the sugar dissolves; do not let it boil.
  3. Pour the brewed coffee into the spiced milk mixture and whisk to combine.
  4. Divide among 4 mugs and serve hot.

Notes

Whisk the spiced milk continuously and keep it below a boil for a smooth drink. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days; freezing is not recommended. For a dairy-free option, use an unsweetened plant-based milk.
